Ladyback Hoops: Injury to Insult
Arkansas women's basketball obviously has bigger concerns now that they've added their first blemish to a previously perfect record. The loss of senior Lauren Ervin for the rest of the year is a huge blow to this Ladyback lineup.
And it's a loss that goes beyond the statistical numbers of her team-leading 16 points, 11 rebound average per game. Ervin brought a very strong inside presence and was never one to shy away from contact in the lane and around the basket.
What's worse in Ervin's case is the inability to apply for a medical red-shirt because she has already participated in enough games this season to make her ineligible. And that's one less player the Ladybacks could possibly bring back for another season.
Any successful team is always faced with adversity at some point during their season. Arkansas has just come "face-to-face" with theirs.
It's time to sink or swim.
