Ok, now what?

Monday afternoon, I stared blankly into my computer monitor at the live press conference Andy Pettitte was holding in regards to all the recent events involving congress, steroids, and everything in between.

As I sat there and listened to the endless stream of useless Q & A's ranging from his family to what did he think was worse, cocaine or steroids, all I could think was, "WHAT IS THE POINT OF ALL THIS!?"

Even with capitol hill's "intervention" and the media circus that has followed, what has really changed since the Mitchell report has come out? I'll give you a hint, it starts with an 'N' and ends with 'OTHING!'. Absolutely nothing.

And what I find more concerning about the whole issue is, what did Washington really hope to accomplish with these hearings? Seriously, if an analyst studied the potential outcomes of this, what is the "best" case scenario? Roger Clemens sobbingly admits in addition to steroids, he cheated his taxes too?

If we as a collective society are serious about curbing the drug problem in pro sports, more time needs to be spent studying ways of preventing it and less time witch-hunting.
