Double Standard?

Just hours after Bobby Knight announced he was retiring, effectice immediately, the national pundits were there to stand by their man. Not only was Knight justified in leaving his team in the middle of the conference season, he in fact, had earned that right. Not one ESPN analyst, so far, has seen a problem with it.

Yes, I understand 42 years on the job entitles a man to certain things. But walking away from a team with 6 weeks left in the season is wrong in my opinion. How many times did Knight likely to tell a player, hey, you jerk, finish that drill the right way. Or finish that play the right way, or finish this season the right way. It seems to me Knight has a double standard when it comes to himself and his players.

And what about Bobby Petrino? The national media acted as if Petrino had robbed their grandmothers when he left the Falcons with three games left in their season.

Just because Petrino hasn't been around long enough to alienate almost everyone he's come into contact with, like Knight, he's somehow a quitter and a liar? But the General, who has physically asaulted his players gets a free pass?

Give me a break.
