Felix Has A Tough Choice
For a lot of college players, the decision on when to go pro is usually made for you. Juniors with phenomenal talent coupled with a great season can guarantee a good spot in the NFL Draft. Once that kind of money is on the line, players normally take it and run.
Darren McFadden doesn't need to sit down with his family to decide. Trust me. A top 10 pick is a no-brainer. Add to the fact he's a running back and the decision is even easier. They take a pounding, on any level, and with a finite lifespan, spending a senior season getting battered without a paycheck doesn't make sense.
But Dmac's running mate Felix Jones has a trickier decision. Jones has proven to be NFL-caliber. The All-American's diversity catching the ball and returning kicks will make him attractive to pro clubs. The problem is where Jones will be taken. First round? Then you gotta leave. Second round? Still nice, but the money drops considerably. And of course there's the Bobby Petrino factor. Would a final year under a big name head coach help Jones? He'd certainly be the MAN for the Hogs with Dmac gone, but a lot of talent is leaving town making you wonder just how good Arkansas will be in 2008.
A recent ESPN report had Felix as the 3rd best tailback in the upcoming draft, if he declares. Time is running out, and Felix The Cat has a big choice to make. Stay tuned for the answer.
