A big week for 3 football Hogs
The Senior Bowl is a huge opportunity for college players entering the draft. Sure, if you're Darren McFadden you don't have much to prove at this point. But guys like Peyton Hillis, Robert Felton and Marcus Harrison can vastly improve their stock in front of NFL coaches and management down in Mobile.
Hillis just needs to show off his versatililty and he'll be fine. How many fullbacks were their school's leading receiver last season? Exactly, Hillis can lead-block, has great hands out of the backfield, and even returns kicks. The best way to get a job in the NFL is to be multi-purpose.
That's why Robert Felton's stock is going thru the roof. A recent article http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/football/nfl/01/22/risers.sliders2/index.html shows that Felton is impressing scouts with his toughness along the line. And keep in mind he played several positions the last couple years at Arkansas due to various injuries to his teammates. If you've ever talked to Robert, you know he's got charisma. That will play well during interviews at the combine in Indianapolis.
Harrison may have a longer road. Much like Keith Jackson, defensive lineman are sought after in the pros, but there's usually a good crop to choose from. Harrison will need to bulk up and be a tackle inside, maybe a run stopper. He does have a checkered past (including a run-in with the law). His hope is to get drafted late or sign a free agent deal and win a job in training camp.
