Day One of Tournament Week in the Fort
I just wrapped up day one of covering the Fort Smith Classic and I have to say it's nice to finally get my mind off of lawsuits, FOI's, and all that other drama!!! Monday was qualifying day for those hoping to play their way into this year's Classic. And how about this turnout....199 golfers competed for the 14 qualifying spots. Talk about slow play!!! Hardscrabble Club Pro Jeremy Moe got started at 9:30 am and didn't sign his score card until 3pm. Moe finished at Even but that wasn't close to qualifying. There were a ton of low scores posted Monday and now 14 very happy qualifiers will once again tee it up on Thursday. Practice rounds will take place all day Tuesday. This is a great chance to follow the pros around and learn how they prepare for each tournament. On Wednesday, a special clinic and junior pro-am tournament will be held out at First Tee. If the weather holds up, it will be another exciting and fun filled week in the Fort!!
