What's Next for the Seniors?

For Ronnie Brewer, the choice was simple. His future was practically etched in stone the moment he was born, seeing as Ron Senior was an NBA veteran. The younger Brewer left Arkansas as a junior and became an instant lottery pick for the Utah Jazz. For the other seniors like Pookie Modica, Eric Ferguson and Dontell Jefferson, the future was more cloudy: tryout for an NBA team? Go to the NBDL (the NBA's training ground)? Head overseas? Or maybe give up on hoops altogether?

Each of them has made their choice. and now the majority of this year's senior class will face a similar prospect. Sonny Weems is projected to be drafted in the 2nd round, no surprise there considering his athleticism, scoring ability and intangibles. Darian Townes should get a tryout, and maybe even Steven Hill because of his defensive prowess. Yet NBA rosters are small, and more than likely the rest of the group has a date with a European club, or maybe picking up a whistle and heading into coaching.

This is the moment where you remember John Pelphrey's words from a few weeks ago, the words about cherishing every moment in college. The NBA dream is simply that for the majority of players, even more so for seniors. Nowhere is the "senior" label more negative than in college hoops.

That said, good luck to all of them in their future endeavors. They were certainly never boring to watch!
